Job Summary
The VP of Dedicated Sales is responsible for driving revenue growth within a defined geographic region by developing and managing dedicated transportation solutions. This role involves building relationships with both new and existing customers, identifying profitable opportunities, and ensuring that customer needs align with the operational capabilities of the company. The ideal candidate will have strong industry knowledge and a proven track record in regional and dedicated freight sales.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Identifies and secures new dedicated freight opportunities within the assigned region, focusing on profitable and sustainable lanes.
  • Builds and maintains long-term relationships with clients by understanding their transportation needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Implements sales strategies that align with the company’s goals, ensuring a steady pipeline of opportunities and incremental business growth.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to existing clients while identifying opportunities for additional sales growth within their accounts.
  • Works closely with the operations team to ensure that customer expectations are communicated effectively and that dedicated routes are serviced efficiently.
  • Continuously monitors the regional market to identify trends, competitor activity, and potential new business opportunities.
  • Proactively manages sales efforts by responding quickly to inquiries from new leads via phone, email, or other communication channels.
  • Collaborates with customers to assist in buying decisions and identify new, profitable lanes.
  • Communicates customer needs effectively to Operations and ensures a seamless connection between sales and delivery teams.
  • Maintains positive and proactive relationships with customers, drivers, and carriers.
  • Regularly travels within the region to meet with clients and prospects in person, fostering trust and long-lasting business relationships.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to communicate our value proposition to prospective clients. 
 
Talent Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years transportation, logistics, or freight forwarding experience, in addition to a proven background managing an outside sales territory, prospecting, and closing sales experience is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience and success in transportation sales, particularly within regional or dedicated trucking.
  • Strong knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry, including lane development, pricing models, and carrier relations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting sales targets and deadlines.
  • Proficient in CRM tools and other sales management software.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
