Safety Coach

Job Summary: The Safety Coach is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable DOT regulations. The Safety Coach is responsible for coaching and counseling to ensure that drivers are following DOT regulations and company policies.

Essential Duties:

Educate drivers on safe driving techniques and compliance on a one-to-one basis

Communicate with drivers to correct unsafe behaviors including, but not limited to, speed gauge, roll stability, hard braking, and hours of service violations

Conduct initial, remedial, and review safety and compliance training for drivers

Coordinate travel schedule to terminals for drivers in need of safety and compliance performance counseling or training

Conducts driver follow up for remedial and refresher safety and compliance training and counseling as directed by the Vice President of Safety

Collaborates with drivers and other departments to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws

Report, document, recommend and implement corrective action on safety and compliance issues with individual drivers

Be subject matter expert regarding Hours-of-Service regulations

 

Required Qualifications:

Strong oral and written communication skills via telephone, email, and in person

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience

Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours-of-Service

Knowledge of commercial vehicle telematics

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of drive cam and speed gauge

Accident investigation background

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel

Previous experience with AS-400, PCMiler, Netgraph, Peoplenet, Elogs, TPI

Ability to create, manage, and analyze spreadsheets

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Knowledge of SMITH training

Valid Class A CDL, with airbrake endorsement
