Spotting Safety Coach is responsible for supporting department goals ensuring compliance with all applicable DOT regulations, understanding and implementing DOT and company policies, reducing accidents, incidents, near misses and with maintaining strong working relationships with drivers and terminal managers to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. This position will require travel and visiting to the several different spotting operation sites throughout the Midwest and South.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize all products that assist in determining drivers that need to modify behavior, including TPI, SpeedGauge, and the various tools available in Peoplenet including but not limited to e-logs, roll stability, hard braking, personal conveyance, and HOS violations resulting from violations of the 11/14/70 rules.
Support the safety manager in safety compliance practices, including but not limited to federal drug and alcohol testing requirements, licensing and medical certification, driver qualifications,
Scan and index paper logs as necessary.
Work as a liaison between the various departments and locations with regards to Hours-of-Service
Be an integral part of the decision making process in regards to Hours-of-Service matters with drivers.
Manage and oversee problem drivers and encourage corrective actions
Be able to work closely with drivers on a one on one basis to correct any and all problem safety concerns
Work closely with driver managers to help determine proper course for corrective actions
Work effectively over the telephone and in person with drivers having safety issues.
Manage required reports and data bases on a daily basis
Position will require 50-75% travel
Document and report all driver counseling session
Other duties as assigned
College degree or equivalent (safety and compliance experience a must)
Experience with MS Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
A working knowledge of all DOT rules and regulations
Able to work flexible work schedules
Ability to travel 50-75%

Competent in both verbal and written communications
