Overages, Shortages and Damages Associate

Job Summary: The OS&D Associate is responsible for ensuring product overages, shortages, and damages are handled efficiently. This position is responsible for retaining positive customer, driver, and shipper relationships when OS&D issues arise. The OS&D Associate will administer asset management.

Essential Duties:

  • Communicate with claims department to mitigate potential cargo claims
  • Entering, creating and maintaining claim files for OS&D issues in AS400
  • Report weekly on the severity/frequency of issues to assist in creating solutions
  • Work with the billing department to ensure appropriate charges for drivers and shippers
  • Manage tracking system to identify where trailers are located and set to right temperature
  • Manage Orbcomm sites, which includes adding new customers into the system
  • Find areas of improvement to decrease transit delays

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or 1-3 years of transportation claims experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills via telephone, email, and in person
  • Ability to work effectively in a high stress and fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience with AS-400
  • Strong multi-tasking, time-management, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to create and maintain positive customer relationships


The successful candidate should be able to define problems and establish facts to assist with creating solutions. The candidate should be able to maintain positive working relationships, work under minimal supervision with strong decision making and prioritization skills.
