Shop Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Shop Manager’s primary responsibility is the management of all day-to-day fleet maintenance operations and administrative functions of the shop. Overseeing and directing processes directed at daily management of identifying claims related to accidents and abusive operation of the company fleet.  Providing assistance to Risk Management in documenting claims, estimating repairs in order to establish loss reserves, identifying repair parts bills of materials and repair status tracking.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Records and collects accident damage documentation
Prepares estimates
Manages stock parts inventory
Communicates with maintenance and operations to coordinate repairs
Coordination of shop service demand through the Fleet Service Writer Desk
Perform regular audits of workmanship via hands-on inspection of Repairs
Monitor technician productivity via SRT times and direct/indirect reports
Participates and contributes during body repair technicians business partnership secessions and performance evaluations
Work closely with Operations, driver managers and safety
Oversee / schedule maintenance personnel in conducting weekly driver maintenance orientation classes
Develop and coordinate monthly employee meetings
Develop, coordinate and present monthly shop maintenance trainings, etc.
Develop effective self-directed work teams within the maintenance department
Conduct monthly shop safety inspections and coordinate repairs, updates as needed (OSHA, Right to Know, EPA, etc.)
Administer all Hirschbach corporate policies and practices
Develop continuous improvement methods
Monitor all fleet and regulatory files maintained in the Maintenance Department
Complete weekly time and attendance reports for payroll and manager

 

EDUCATION/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

Associates degree, Technical and Applied Arts or military training
Minimum five (5) years of fleet management experience
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, AS/400 preferred
Familiarity with terminology and service of Class 7 & 8 vehicles
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Solid knowledge of D.O.T./CVSA Standards
Possess strong customer service skills
Ability to work with others in problem solving
Excellent planning and organizational skills
